You know when I moved to Suffolk County, I hated it. I was a good 45 minutes away from everything I knew. Not that far, but far enough to fgeel isolated. However, over the 5 years that I have lived out here, I have come to like it. Even though I live in the Notoruius neighborhood if Brentwood. The home of equally notorious & mostly abandoned, Pilgrim State Mental Hospital. In fact, it actually pretty quiet most of the time despite all that notoriety. I keep to myself mostly and have had no problems. I was raised in Brooklyn, so diversity does not bother me. I do find it interesting being a Minority for a change. I have brushed up a little on my Spanish too. Enuf to make people laugh or apriciate my effort at least. So, yes I like where I live. It may be a small basement apartment, but it is mine. I can barely afford it, but again, it is my sanctuary of sorts. It is where I recovered from being sick, really sick too. It has been overwhelmed by my stuff recently because I moved out of my storage unit 2 months ago. People say I should move, but I feel comfortable here for now, out in “The Hood”, but it feels more like the “Country” to a city boy like me depite the high crime rate and the homeless. It is not perfect but it is “Mi Territa” (My Territory) , now and it is here I will continue to, Carry On… MM
